## Guide

### 1. Play the Elaut E\-Claw 900

The E\-Claw 900 is a one\-player claw machine from Elaut, a Belgian arcade maker\. Put in a coin, steer the claw with the joystick and press the button to drop it\. The claw grabs, lifts and carries its catch to the chute\. Click the coin slot to start\.

The display on the control deck shows your credits, the time left, the claw's grip and your wins\.

### 2. Coin in, credit up

Follow the coin through the see\-through front\. An acceptor checks its size and weight, drops it into the cash box and sends one pulse to the controller board\. CREDIT on the display goes up by one\.

A coin that fails the check is sent back to the return cup\. The operator sets how many coins a play costs, and the E\-Claw can also take card payment\.

### 3. Steering the gantry

Two motors move the claw: one drives the bridge front to back, the other drives the trolley left and right\. The joystick only switches them on and off, so the claw moves at one speed\. Drag the red ball the way you want it to go\.

The first move starts a 30 second play\. Limit switches at the rail ends stop each motor and light red\. The E\-Claw gantry lifts out for servicing\.

### 4. Drop, grab, lift

Press the button and the winch unwinds the cable, lowering the open claw until the cable goes slack on a prize or the floor\. A coil then pulls a plunger up to close the prongs, and the winch lifts the claw to the top switch\.

If you never press the button, the claw drops by itself when the time runs out\.

### 5. How hard the claw grips

The grip is the coil voltage set by the controller board\. The claw closes at a firm grab setting, then drops to the carry setting chosen here as it lifts, so a heavy or off\-centre prize can slip out\. Every 10th play keeps a strong grip\.

E\-Claw operators set payout and prize options; these values come from a typical crane manual, not from Elaut\. Bears weigh about twice as much as capsules\.

### 6. Down the chute

Back at the front corner, the claw opens over the chute\. A won prize drops past a light sensor, which counts the win, and lands in the bin behind the pickup door\. Click the door flap to take your prize out\.

The test grab is an operator mode: it runs one play at full grip, aimed at a prize near the chute\.

### 7. Your turn

The E\-Claw is closed again\. Insert a coin, steer with the joystick, press the button to drop the claw, and take what you win from the pickup door\. The grip setting you chose stays in place\.
