### 1. Open Horizon Workstation

These parts make a curved walnut desk that wraps 160 degrees around you, with a glowing ring of light overhead\. The back stays open, so you can roll in and out\. Two people can build it in about 20 minutes\. Tap any part to see its name\.

The finished desk is 2\.1 metres wide and weighs about 138 kilograms\.

### 2. 1 · Join the Base Halves

The steel base comes in two curved halves\. Slide the right half against the left one where they meet in the middle, and bolt the flange together\.

There is no rail across the front, so chair wheels and feet never trip\.

### 3. 1 · Stand the Two Spines

Drop the tall rear mast, called P1, and the thinner bookshelf spine, P2, into their sockets at the back\. Both are 2\.12 metres tall\.

Everything overhead hangs from the back, so no posts block your view\.

### 4. 2 · Lower the Cockpit Module

The desktop is made of two walnut pieces\. Lower the left one, module M1, onto the frame\. It holds the screens and is 600 millimetres deep\.

### 5. 2 · Fit Four Tenons

Push four flat beech tenons into the slots in M1’s cut end\. A tenon is a wooden key that joins two pieces and keeps them lined up\.

### 6. 2 · Slide On the Writing Wing

Slide module M2 onto the tenons until the seam closes\. Underneath, three draw\-bolts pull the two halves tight into one smooth curve\.

The walnut grain fans out across the seam, so it looks like one piece\.

### 7. 3 · Set Down the Bookshelf

Lower the curved bookshelf onto the back edge of M2 and bolt it to spine P2\. Its four walnut shelves get shallower towards the top\.

Every shelf is within an easy turn of the chair\.

### 8. 3 · Bolt On the Cantilever Arm

Bolt the tapered arm to the top of mast P1 with four strong bolts\. A cantilever is a beam held at one end only, like a diving board\.

### 9. 3 · Hang the Halo

Lift the aluminium halo ring up into the arm’s three hanging points\. The ring is 1\.5 metres across but weighs only 12\.4 kilograms\.

Inside, a sunken diffuser hides the light strips, so the light does not reflect in the screens\.

### 10. 4 · Hang the Four Displays

Hang the wide centre screen and the upper screen on mast P1, and the two side screens on their desk posts\. The side screens turn inwards to face you\.

### 11. 4 · Dock the Computer

Slide the PC tower into the open cradle under the left wing tip\. It sits 60 millimetres above the floor so air can flow underneath\.

### 12. Ready to Work

Plug in the single power cord at the back, and the workstation is done\. Turn the view to see the open rear bay, 1\.52 metres wide\.

The halo gives tunable white light from warm 2700 K to cool 6500 K\.
