## Guide

### 1. Steel Lift\-and\-Slide Unit

Two\-leaf thermally broken steel lift\-and\-slide door: 185 mm frame, 80 mm leaves, 85 mm leaf sightline, threshold with two running rails\. The frame and exterior fixed leaf are in place; the interior sliding leaf is fabricated, glazed, fitted and hung in the following steps\.

Reference system: Jansen Janisol lift\-and\-slide \(leaf height to 3200 mm, leaf weight to 400 kg\)\. Drag to turn the view\.

### 2. 1 · Composite Profile

Each profile is two roll\-formed shells of strip\-galvanised cold\-rolled steel, about 1\.5–2 mm wall, joined by glass\-fibre\-reinforced plastic bars\. The bars are the thermal break: no continuous steel path runs from the exterior to the interior shell\.

Wall thickness is estimated from the published section drawing\.

### 3. 2 · Cut and Machine

Cut stiles and rails to length at 45° on a double\-head mitre saw, then drill and mill the openings for the roller carriages, gear and lock, and the drainage slots\. Lay the four members interior face up in the welding jig with the mitres closed\.

Fabrication sequence after the Jansen steel profile fabrication handbook: cutting, notching, processing, welding, realignment, linishing\.

### 4. 3 · Clamp and Weld

Clamp the members to the fixture table, tack each corner, then weld the mitres along the interior face and round the outer edge\. Weld diagonally opposite corners in turn to limit distortion\.

Weld settings and jig details are not published in the sources used; follow the profile supplier’s welding instructions\.

### 5. 4 · Realign, Linish, Coat

Release the clamps, check the frame for square across the diagonals and for flatness, and realign if required\. Linish the seams flush with the profile faces, then powder coat or stove enamel the welded leaf so the corner seams are covered\.

### 6. 5 · Glaze

Place the setting blocks in the bottom rebate, fit the exterior gasket, then lower the 34 mm triple\-glazed unit onto the blocks\. Fit the interior glazing beads with their gaskets; the bead retains the unit against the exterior shell’s glass stop\.

Janisol accepts infill from 25 to 57 mm\.

### 7. 6 · Fit Hardware

Insert the tandem roller carriages at the bottom rail and fit the lift\-and\-slide handle on the lock stile, engaging its gear\. Carriage and gear geometry here is typical, not system\-specific\.

### 8. 7 · Hang the Leaf

Lift the glazed leaf off the table, stand it upright in front of the interior track, enter the head and lower the carriages onto the running rail\. The leaf overlaps the fixed leaf by 90 mm at the meeting stiles, sealed by brush seals\.

### 9. 8 · Lift and Slide

Turning the handle up lifts the leaf on its carriages off the threshold gaskets so it rolls freely\. Turning it down lowers the leaf onto the seals and engages the lock\.

Performance per EN 14351\-1 for the reference system: rain tightness to 6A, air permeability class 4, Rw up to 39 dB\.
