## Guide

### 1. Parts and Tools

Five panels, a door, a shelf and the fittings, laid out on a mat\. You need a cross\-head screwdriver and a flat screwdriver; a pencil marks where the feet go\. Tap a part to see its name\.

The hex key and the four long screws are only for the desk option\. Never stack one ALEX unit on another\.

### 2. 1 · First Cam Dowel

Lay both side panels flat, inner face up\. Screw a cam dowel into the first hole along the back edge, turning it clockwise with the cross\-head screwdriver until its collar meets the panel\.

### 3. 1 · Other Five

Screw in the other five cam dowels the same way: three along the back edge of each side panel\.

### 4. 2 · First Wood Dowel

Lay the back panel flat, inner face up\. Push a wood dowel into a hole in its long edge until half of it is in\.

### 5. 2 · Other Eleven

Push in the other eleven: two more in the back panel's edges and two in each end of both side panels\.

### 6. 3 · Raise the Sides

Stand both side panels up on the long edges of the back panel and push them on, so the cam dowels and wood dowels go into its holes\.

### 7. 4 · First Cam Lock

Drop a cam lock into a large hole in the back panel, arrow facing the edge\. Turn it clockwise with the flat screwdriver until it grips the cam dowel\.

### 8. 4 · Other Five

Fit and tighten the other five cam locks in the back panel the same way\.

### 9. 5 · Six in the Top

Lay the top panel flat, inner face up, and screw six cam dowels into the holes along its ends, clockwise\.

### 10. 5 · Six in the Bottom

Screw six more cam dowels into the bottom panel the same way\. Its grey face goes down\.

### 11. 6 · Top and Bottom

Slide the top and bottom panels onto the ends of the frame so the cam dowels and wood dowels go into the side panels\.

The grey face of the bottom panel goes on the outside\. It has the marks for the feet\.

### 12. 7 · First Cam Lock

Inside the frame, drop a cam lock into a hole near the end of a side panel and turn it clockwise with the flat screwdriver\.

### 13. 7 · Other Five on This Side

Fit and tighten five more cam locks in the same side panel: three at each end\.

### 14. 7 · Six on the Other Side

Fit and tighten six cam locks in the other side panel the same way\.

### 15. 13 · Mark the Feet

With the frame still on its back, mark a small cross on the grey bottom panel 20 mm in from both edges at each corner\.

The manual prints this step as 13\. Castors or a desk top are other options with their own pages; this guide fits the feet\.

### 16. 13 · First Foot

Peel the backing off an adhesive foot and press it onto the first cross\.

### 17. 13 · Other Three

Press the other three feet onto their crosses the same way\.

### 18. 13 · Stand It Upright

Tip the unit up onto its feet and turn it so the open front faces you\.

### 19. 8 · First Hinge Plate

Hold a hinge plate against the inside of the right side panel, at the top front, with the letters B and A upright and its arrow pointing to the front\.

### 20. 8 · First Plate Screw

Drive a screw through the B slot into the hole behind it, clockwise with the cross\-head screwdriver\.

### 21. 8 · Second Plate Screw

Drive the second screw through the other B slot the same way\.

### 22. 8 · Second Hinge Plate

Hold the second hinge plate against the same side panel at the bottom front, the same way up\.

### 23. 8 · Its Two Screws

Fix it with two screws through its B slots\.

### 24. 9 · First Hinge

Lay the door flat, inner face up\. Press the round cup of a hinge into the large hole near the top of the edge without the grip\.

### 25. 9 · First Hinge Screw

Fix the hinge with a screw through one of its holes, clockwise with the cross\-head screwdriver\.

### 26. 9 · Second Hinge Screw

Drive the second screw through the hinge's other hole\.

### 27. 9 · Second Hinge

Press the second hinge into the large hole near the bottom of the door, the same way round\.

### 28. 9 · Its Two Screws

Fix it with two screws\.

### 29. 10 · Hang the Door

Hold the door open beside the unit and slide both hinge arms back onto their plates\.

### 30. 10 · Lock the Hinges

Tighten the screw on each plate's clip, clockwise with the cross\-head screwdriver, so the hinges cannot slide off\.

### 31. Adjust the Door

If the door does not sit evenly, adjust each hinge\. To move it up or down, loosen the two plate screws, move the door and tighten them again\. Loosen the clip screw to move it in or out\. Turn the screw on the hinge arm to move it sideways\.

### 32. 11 · First Bumper

Lay the shelf flat\. Peel a clear bumper off its sheet and press it onto the front edge of the shelf, 70 mm from the corner\.

### 33. 11 · Other Three

Press the other three bumpers on the same way: two on the front edge and two on the back edge, each 70 mm from a corner\.

### 34. 12 · Shelf Supports

Push four shelf supports into holes at the same height in the side panels, two on each side, thin end out\.

### 35. 12 · Lay In the Shelf

Tilt the shelf to pass the open door, slide it in and lower it onto the supports\. The unit is ready\.
