### 1. Humanoid Robot Battery Replacement

This humanoid robot is about as tall as an eight\-year\-old, and every one of its motors runs on one battery pack in the side of its chest\. A full pack lasts about two hours\. A charger and a charged spare pack wait on the bench\. Tap any part to see its name\.

Stand the robot somewhere steady, in a relaxed pose\.

### 2. 1 · Switch Everything Off

Shut the robot down first\. Then hold the round power button on the side of the pack until its lights go out\. Never pull a pack out while it is on: that can damage the robot\.

The four lights are a fuel gauge\. Only one is left on this pack\.

### 3. 2 · Slide the Used Pack Out

Squeeze the two orange clips together with both hands, then pull the pack gently straight out of the side\. It weighs about 2 kg, like a big bag of sugar, so hold it firmly\.

### 4. 3 · Put It on the Charger

Stand the used pack in the charger on the bench\. Inside are 13 lithium cells linked one after another, and a tiny guard circuit called a battery management system keeps them from overcharging\.

### 5. 4 · Slide the Charged Pack In

Hold the charged pack with its power button facing out, at the end nearer the robot's back\. Slide it straight in until the clips click\. If it stops, check which way it faces; never force it\.

Forcing a pack can bend its connector or break a clip\.

### 6. 5 · Switch On and Check

Press the power button on the pack, then start the robot\. Four green lights mean the pack is full, holding about 421 watt\-hours: enough energy to boil a full kettle about twice\.

### 7. Ready to Go

The robot is working again while its old pack charges\. Keeping a spare pack charged means a robot can work almost all day with only short stops\. Some robots can even swap their own batteries in about three minutes\.
