# Norum Sofa Bed Assembly

## Guide

### 1. Norum Sofa Bed: the Parts

Everything in the boxes is laid out here: two armrests \(G, H\), the backrest \(D\), the seat base \(A\), the bed section \(B\), two metal rails \(J, K\), two folding mechanisms \(L, M\), cushion covers \(C\) and pads \(E\)\. The small bags hold feet, screws, bolts, washers, two hook brackets and a 5 mm hex key, the only tool you need\. Tap any part to see its name\.

The manual asks for two people, and small parts and packaging are choking hazards for little children\.

### 2. 1 · Feet and Brackets on the Armrests

Lay both armrests on their outer side\. Screw two feet \(7\) under each one with button screws \(2\), turning the 5 mm hex key clockwise\. Then fix a hook bracket \(6\) on each inner face with three countersunk screws \(1\)\.

Uses 4 feet, 4 button screws, 2 brackets and 6 countersunk screws\.

### 3. 2 · Backrest D and Rail J

Stand the armrests up, about a bed width apart\. Set the backrest \(D\) between them and bolt each side with two long bolts \(4\), each with a washer \(3\)\. Then fit rail J across the lower front with two countersunk screws \(1\) at each end\.

Uses 4 bolts, 4 washers and 4 countersunk screws\.

### 4. 3 · Fit the Mechanisms

Hold each folding mechanism against an armrest’s inner face, near the front\. Fix each with three button screws \(2\)\. The mechanisms are what lift the bed section when the sofa becomes a bed\.

The manual draws mechanism L; fit M on the other arm the same way\. Uses 6 button screws\.

### 5. 4 · Feet under Seat Base A

Seat base A lies upside down, with its front panel pointing up\. Screw four feet \(7\) along that panel’s edge, each with a button screw \(2\)\.

Uses 4 feet and 4 button screws\.

### 6. 5 · Seat In, Sofa on Its Back

Turn A the right way up and slide it in between the armrests from the front\. The manual circles the fabric tab at the centre seam\. With a helper, tip the sofa gently onto its back, then fix A to both mechanisms with two button screws \(2\) on each side\.

Uses 4 button screws\.

### 7. 6 · Free the Springs, Fit Rail K

Each mechanism’s spring is held shut by a wire tie for transport\. Pull the ties off, away from the mechanism\. Then fit rail K between the mechanisms with two button screws \(2\) at each end\.

Keep your fingers away from the spring and wire: they can pinch\. Uses 4 button screws\.

### 8. 7 · Bed Section B

Lift bed section B into the open underside, between the mechanisms\. Fix it with two button screws \(2\) on each side\.

Uses the last 4 button screws: all 26 are now in\.

### 9. 8 · Fill the Cushions

With your helper, stand the sofa back on its feet\. Slide each pad \(E\) into a cushion cover \(C\) through its open end\. The cushions rest against the backrest, and your Norum is ready\.

Each seat takes up to 110 kg \(250 lb\)\. Children under 12 should use the sofa bed with an adult around\.
