### 1. Fly Catcher Trap Build

Turn an empty 2 litre soda bottle into a funnel trap\. You need a utility knife, tape, apple cider vinegar, sugar, water and a little dish soap\.

Rinse the bottle first\. Drag empty space to look around\.

### 2. 1 · Take the Cap Off

Unscrew the cap anticlockwise and set it aside\. The open neck becomes the only way into the trap\.

### 3. 2 · Cut One Third Down

Where the shoulder meets the straight wall, about 10 cm from the top, pierce the bottle with the knife and cut all the way round\. Lift the top off\.

Cut away from your hands\. The edges are sharp\.

### 4. 3 · Mix the Bait

In a jug, stir 1 cup of apple cider vinegar, 1 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of sugar\. Add 3 drops of dish soap\.

The sour smell lures the flies\. The soap breaks the surface, so flies that land sink\.

### 5. 4 · Pour It In

Pour the bait into the bottom of the bottle until it is about 5 cm deep\.

### 6. 5 · Flip the Top In

Turn the top upside down and push it into the base like a funnel\. The neck points down and stays clear of the liquid\.

### 7. 6 · Tape the Seam

Wrap tape round the joint so the cut edges are covered and the funnel cannot slip\.

### 8. How It Works

Flies follow the smell down the funnel and through the neck\. Inside, they fly up towards the light and cannot find the small hole again\.

Set it near bins or windows, not a busy door\. Refresh the bait every 5 to 7 days\.
