## Guide

### 1. Tokyo 3\-Door Wardrobe

Here is every part of the wardrobe, laid out on its flattened box\. You need a Phillips \(cross\-head\) screwdriver, a flat screwdriver, a hammer and a tape measure\. The hex key comes in the box\. Tap any part to see its name\.

Build on the cardboard so the panels never get scratched\. Two people make the big panels easy\.

### 2. 01 · Tap In the Dowels

Dowels are little wooden pegs that line the panels up\. Tap three into the holes in the end of side 02 with the hammer, then do the same for every panel end and shelf end\.

There are 56 dowels in all\.

### 3. 02 · Lay Side 02 on Its Edge

The wardrobe is built lying on its back\. Stand the left side 02 on its back edge with its holes facing in\.

### 4. 02 · Fit Shelves 04, 05 and 04

Push the three small shelves onto the dowels of side 02: shelf 04 at the top, shelf 05 in the middle and the second 04 lower down\.

### 5. 02 · Add Divider 03

Press the divider 03 onto the other ends of the shelves\. Then fix the two 04 shelves with eight B screws\.

Shelf 05 has no screws: it rests on its dowels\.

### 6. 03 · Fit Shelves 07, 07 and 11

On the other side of the divider, push the two large shelves 07 and the large shelf 11 onto its dowels\.

### 7. 03 · Add Right Side 06

Press the right side 06 onto the shelves\. Fix both 07 shelves with eight B screws\.

### 8. 04 · Fix the Central Foot

Screw the small central foot 17 to the middle of the underside of base 18 with one C screw\. It stops the base from sagging in the middle\.

### 9. 04 · Fit the Top

Press the top 01 onto the dowels at the top end of the three upright panels\. Fix it with nine C screws through its flat face\.

C screws have flat heads that sit flush with the board\.

### 10. 04 · Fit the Base

Press the base 18 onto the other end, with the central foot facing out\. Fix it with nine more C screws\.

### 11. 05 · Fix the Corner Brackets

Lay the leg frame upside down: two long rails 09 and two short rails 08\. Screw a metal corner bracket 12 into each corner with four B screws\.

### 12. 06 · Bolt On the Legs

Fix a leg 10 to each corner bracket with two D bolts, turned with the hex key G\. The legs lean out a little, which makes the wardrobe steadier\.

### 13. 07 · Fix the Leg Frame

Set the leg frame on the base, using the dowels as guides to line it up\. Fix it with six B screws through the rails\.

### 14. 08 · Stand It Up

With a helper, tip the wardrobe up onto its legs\. The empty frame is still floppy, so lift it gently\.

Never lift it by one corner alone\.

### 15. 08 · Nail On the Side Back Panels

The two side back panels 13 are thin boards\. Nail them to the back edges of the wardrobe with the small H nails, about every 15 cm\.

The back panels keep the whole wardrobe square, so they matter more than they look\.

### 16. 08 · Fit the H Profile

Slide the H profile 19 onto the edge of the right\-hand side panel 13\. Its two grooves hold the edges of two panels side by side\.

### 17. 08 · Nail On the Central Panel

Slide the central back panel 14 into the other groove of the profile\. Nail it on, using the small plates J along the seam at the divider\.

### 18. 09 · Fix the Rail Brackets

Screw one rail bracket K inside the divider and one inside side 06 with two F screws each\. Measure 25 cm back from the front edge and 8 cm down from shelf 07\.

### 19. 10 · Take Out the Drawers

Slide both drawers out of the drawer unit 16 and put them aside\. The empty unit is lighter and you can reach inside it\.

### 20. 10 · Fix the Drawer Unit

Slide the drawer unit under the lowest small shelf 04\. Drive four M screws up through the slots in its top rails into the shelf\.

### 21. 11 · Slide the Drawers Back In

Slide the two drawers back into the drawer unit until they close\.

### 22. 11 · Hang the Rail

Drop the hanging rail L into the cups of its two brackets\. It is 838 mm long, almost exactly the width of the space\.

### 23. 12 · Straight Hinges on Two Doors

A cup hinge has a round cup that sits in the hole in the door\. Fit four straight hinges E on each of two doors, with two F screws per hinge\.

### 24. 13 · Hang the Left Door

Hold one door with straight hinges against the front\. Screw its hinge plates to the inside of the left side 02, two F screws per hinge\.

### 25. 13 · Hang the Right Door

Hang the other straight\-hinge door on the right side 06 the same way\.

The small screws on each hinge move the door up and down, left and right, and in and out until the gaps are even\.

### 26. 14 · Curved Hinges on the Middle Door

Fit the four curved hinges I on the last door with F screws\. Their bent arm lets this door share the divider with its neighbour\.

### 27. 15 · Hang the Middle Door

Screw the middle door to the divider\. Adjust the hinges until all three doors line up\.

### 28. Done

Your Tokyo wardrobe is ready for clothes\. Clean it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, never furniture polish\.
