## Guide

### 1. BRIMNES Cabinet

This is a low white cabinet with two doors and two shelves, 78 cm wide, 41 cm deep and 95 cm high\. Every panel, fitting and tool is laid out on the rug\. You build it lying down, then stand it against the wall and fix it there\. You need a hammer, two screwdrivers and a pencil\.

Two people make turning and standing the cabinet easier\.

### 2. 1 · Fit the Two Wall Brackets

A wall bracket is a small metal plate that will later hold the cabinet to the wall\. Push one onto the inner face of each side panel, at the top end, with its holes over the marks\. Each bracket sits just under where the top panel will go\.

### 3. 1 · Screw the First Bracket Screw

Hold the bracket flat and turn the first screw clockwise with the cross\-head screwdriver\. It bites into the side panel and pulls the bracket tight\. Stop when the head sits flush\.

### 4. 1 · Screw the Other Three

Put in the other three bracket screws the same way\. Each bracket takes two\. Do not overtighten them, because the chipboard can strip\.

### 5. 2 · Fit the Four Hinge Plates

A hinge plate is the fixed half of a door hinge\. Push one onto the inner face of each side panel at the marked places, two on each side\. They line up with the hinges on the doors later\.

### 6. 2 · Screw the First Plate Screw

Drive one short screw through the hinge plate into the side panel with the cross\-head screwdriver\. Turn it clockwise until it is snug\. The plate must lie flat against the panel\.

### 7. 2 · Screw the Other Plate Screws

Fit the remaining plate screws the same way\. Each plate takes two screws\. Check that every plate still lies flat\.

### 8. 3 · Screw In the First Cam Bolt

A cam bolt is a short screw with a round head that a cam lock will grip later\. Screw the first one into the inner face of a side panel, using the cross\-head screwdriver\. Turn it clockwise until it is tight\.

### 9. 3 · Screw In the Other Cam Bolts

Screw the other five cam bolts into the side panels the same way\. Their round heads must stand clear of the panel\.

### 10. 4 · Tap In the First Dowel

A dowel is a small fluted wooden peg that lines up two panels\. Push one into a hole in an end of the bottom panel by hand\. It should go in about halfway\.

### 11. 4 · Fit the Other Dowels

Push the other three dowels into the ends of the bottom panel\. There are two at each end\. Press them in until they stop\.

### 12. 4 · Set the Bottom on Side Panel 1

Lay side panel 1 on its side on the rug with its fittings facing up\. Lower the bottom onto its dowels and cam bolts, with the edges flush at the front\. The bottom must not stick out past the front edge, as the crossed\-out copy shows\.

The bottom's cam holes face up\.

### 13. 5 · Turn the First Cam Lock

A cam lock is a round fitting that grips a cam bolt when you turn it\. Press it into the hole in the bottom, then turn it half a turn clockwise with the flat screwdriver\. The arrow on it should point towards the cam bolt\.

### 14. 5 · Turn the Second Cam Lock

Fit the second cam lock the same way\. Press it in and turn it half a turn clockwise\. The bottom is now fixed to side panel 1\.

### 15. 6 · Fit the Back Rail Dowels

The plinth rails are two thin strips that stiffen the base of the cabinet\. Push two dowels into the ends of the back rail\. They fit by hand\.

### 16. 6 · Fit the Back Rail

Slide the back rail in under the bottom, against side panel 1\. Its dowels go into the holes in the side\. Push it until it stops\.

### 17. 7 · Fit the Front Rail Dowels

Push two dowels into the ends of the front rail, the same way as the back one\.

### 18. 7 · Fit the Front Rail

Slide the front rail in under the bottom, set back from the front edge\. Its dowels go into side panel 1\. Push it home\.

### 19. 8 · Lock the Front Rail

Press a cam lock into the front rail and turn it half a turn clockwise with the flat screwdriver\. This pulls the rail against its cam bolt\.

### 20. 9 · Lay On Side Panel 2

Lower the second side panel onto the dowels and cam bolts of the bottom and the rails\. Keep the edges flush\. Take care to lower it straight down\.

Work in two if you can\.

### 21. 10 · Lock the Second Side

Press three cam locks into the bottom and the rails, on the side of panel 2\. Turn each half a turn clockwise with the flat screwdriver\. The side is now fixed\.

### 22. 11 · Screw Cam Bolts Into the Top

Screw the first of four cam bolts into its underside with the cross\-head screwdriver, until it is tight\.

### 23. 11 · Screw In the Other Three

Screw in the other three cam bolts the same way\.

### 24. 12 · Fit the Dowels in the Sides

Push four dowels into the upper ends of the two side panels, two in each\. They are the pegs the top will sit on\.

### 25. 12 · Set On the Top

Lower the top onto the dowels and cam bolts\. Keep it square, with its edges flush with the sides\.

### 26. 13 · Turn the First Top Cam Lock

Press a cam lock into the top end of a side panel\. Turn it half a turn clockwise with the flat screwdriver until it grips the cam bolt in the top\.

### 27. 13 · Turn the Other Three

Lock the other three cam locks the same way\. The carcass, which is the box without doors, is now solid\.

### 28. 14 · Turn It Onto Its Front

Tip the carcass forward onto its front so the open back faces up\. Do this on a soft surface, such as the rug, to protect the front edges\.

### 29. 14 · Lay On the Back Panel

Lay the thin back panel on the open back\. Its edges must be flush with the sides and the rails\.

### 30. 14 · Nail the First Corner

Stand a nail in the nail holder, a small plastic guide, at a corner\. Tap it in with the hammer, slide the holder off and finish driving the nail\. The first nails fix the back square\.

### 31. 15 · Nail the Opposite Corner

Tap a nail into the opposite corner the same way\. Keep the back panel flush while you hammer\.

### 32. 15 · Nail the Rest

Tap in the remaining 26 nails along the edges and the rails\. Hold the panel flat while you hammer\. There are 28 nails in all\.

### 33. 16 · Tap In the First Foot

A foot is a flat plastic strip with two pegs\. Press its pegs into the holes in the underside and tap it home with the hammer\.

### 34. 16 · Fit the Other Feet

Tap in the other three feet\. Two go under each side panel, one at the front and one at the back\.

### 35. 17 · Stand It Up

Tip the cabinet upright onto its feet\. Then turn it and set it against the wall\.

Two people should lift it\.

### 36. 18 · Mark the Wall

Push a pencil through the centre hole of each bracket and draw a cross on the wall\. These crosses show where the wall screws go\.

### 37. 19 · Pull It Off the Wall

Move the cabinet forward, away from the wall\. It is easier to drive the wall screws without it in the way\.

### 38. 19 · Screw In the First Wall Screw

Drive a wall screw at the first cross, leaving the head 3 mm clear of the wall\. Use a screw and plug that suit your wall\.

Wall screws are not included\.

### 39. 19 · Screw In the Second

Drive the second wall screw at its cross, with its head 3 mm clear as well\.

### 40. 20 · Back Against the Wall

Push the cabinet back so that the screw heads pass through the holes in the brackets\.

### 41. 20 · Fit the Washers

Slide a keyhole washer over each wall screw, behind the bracket\. It stops the screw head from pulling through the bracket\.

### 42. 20 · Tighten the Wall Screws

Tighten both wall screws to clamp the washers\. The cabinet can no longer tip forward\.

### 43. 20 · Fit the Covers

Press a cover over each bracket so that it clicks\. The covers hide the brackets\.

### 44. 21 · Fit the Hinges

A hinge is a metal joint that lets a door swing\. Push a hinge into each round cup hole on the back of the doors, two in each door\.

### 45. 21 · Screw the First Hinge Screw

Drive a screw through the hinge into the door with the cross\-head screwdriver\. Turn it clockwise until it is snug\.

### 46. 21 · Screw the Other Hinge Screws

Drive the other seven hinge screws the same way\. Each hinge takes two\.

### 47. 22 · Hang the Left Door

Hold the left door at a right angle to the cabinet\. Clip each hinge onto its plate on the side panel\.

### 48. 22 · Hang the Right Door

Hang the right door the same way, clipping each hinge onto its plate\.

### 49. 22 · Square the Doors

Turn the hinge screws slightly until each door hangs level\. They adjust the door up and down, in and out and side to side\.

### 50. 23 · Fit the Handles

Put a handle on each door at the marked holes, near the centre edge\. They should be vertical\.

### 51. 23 · Screw the First Handle Screw

Drive a handle screw in from inside the door with the cross\-head screwdriver\. Turn it clockwise until it is tight\.

### 52. 23 · Screw the Other Handle Screws

Drive the other handle screws the same way\. Each handle takes two\.

### 53. 24 · Press In the Floor Caps

A floor cap is a small plastic plug that covers a spare hole\. Press one into each floor hole in the bottom panel\.

### 54. 25 · Press In the First Shelf Pin

A shelf pin is a small peg that supports a shelf\. Press one into a hole at the height you want\.

### 55. 25 · Press In the Other Pins

Press in the other seven pins\. Four go on each side, at matching heights\.

All four pins of one shelf must be at the same height\.

### 56. 26 · Lay In the Shelves

Slide each shelf in from the front\. Rest it on its four pins\. Each shelf holds up to 25 kg\.

### 57. 27 · Stick On the Bumpers

A bumper is a small clear pad that stops the door knocking\. Press one onto each door edge where it meets the cabinet\.

### 58. Adjust the Doors

Close the doors\. Use the hinge screws to move each door up and down, in and out and side to side\. Stop when the gaps are even\.

### 59. Done

The BRIMNES cabinet is finished and fixed to the wall\. Load each shelf with no more than 25 kg\. Check the wall screws now and then\.
