### 1. Parts and Tools

The chest of drawers is shown standing ready, with the boards for the first drawer and the fittings laid out on a rug\. You need a cross\-head screwdriver, a flat screwdriver, a hammer and a pencil\. Tap a part to see its name\.

The manual covers the four drawers only\. Build one drawer first; the other three follow the same steps\.

### 2. 1 · First Bolt

Lay the drawer front face down\. Screw a bolt into a hole in its inner face with the cross\-head screwdriver until the head stands just proud of the board\.

Leave the bolt proud so the side can sit over it\.

### 3. 1 · Other Three

Screw in the other three bolts the same way\.

### 4. 2 · First Wood Dowel

Push a wood dowel into the hole in the front end of a side until half of it is in\.

### 5. 2 · Other Three

Push dowels into the front end of the other side and the second hole of each side\.

### 6. 3 · Stand the Sides On

Stand both sides on the front, over the bolts and dowels, with the grooves facing each other\.

Hold the sides until the cam locks are in; the drawer can tip over\.

### 7. 4 · First Cam Lock

Drop a cam lock into a hole in a side near the front\. Turn it clockwise with the flat screwdriver until it grips the bolt\.

### 8. 4 · Other Three

Fit and tighten the other three cam locks the same way\.

### 9. 5 · Slide In the Bottom

Slide the bottom panel down the grooves in the sides until it sits in the groove in the front\.

### 10. 6 · Swing In the Back

Tilt the back panel in between the sides and swing it down onto the bottom\.

### 11. 7 · First Dowel, Hammered

Push a dowel through a side into the end of the back panel, then tap it home with the hammer\.

### 12. 7 · Other Three

Hammer in the other three dowels the same way\.

### 13. 8 · Two Bumpers

Press the two bumpers into the holes in the drawer front\.

### 14. 9 · Turn the Drawer Over

Turn the drawer over onto its front edge so the underside faces up\.

### 15. 9 · Fit the Slides

Lay a slide along each side, wheel end towards the front, flat against the side\.

The wheel end goes at the front\.

### 16. 10 · First Screw

Drive a screw through the slide into the side with the cross\-head screwdriver until the head sits flat\.

### 17. 10 · Other Five

Drive the other five screws, three through each slide\.

### 18. 11 · Start the Brace Screw

Screw one short screw into the back of the bottom, leaving the head proud\.

### 19. 11 · Hook On the Brace

Hook the brace on the front tab over that screw, then lay the other end flat\.

### 20. 12 · Mark the Hole

Use the pencil to mark the hole at the free end of the brace\.

### 21. 12 · Fix the Brace

Drive one screw through the brace at the mark to fix it to the drawer\.

### 22. Turn the Drawer Upright

Turn the finished drawer upright onto its slides\.

### 23. Fit the Drawer

Hold the drawer level, line the slides up with the rails in the chest and push it in\. Press down on the front to catch the slides, then pull it out a little to check it runs\.

Never open more than one drawer at a time; the chest can tip over\. Fix it to the wall with the fitting that comes with it\.

### 24. 1–9 · The Second Drawer

Build the second drawer the same way: front, bolts, sides, dowels, cam locks, bottom, back and bumpers, then turn it over\.

### 25. 9–12 · Second Drawer, Slides and Fit

Fit the slides, the screws and the brace, turn the drawer upright and fit it in the chest below the first\.

### 26. 1–9 · The Third Drawer

Build the third drawer the same way, up to turning it over\.

### 27. 9–12 · Third Drawer, Slides and Fit

Fit its slides, screws and brace, then fit the drawer below the second\.

### 28. 1–9 · The Fourth Drawer

Build the fourth drawer the same way, up to turning it over\.

### 29. 9–12 · Fourth Drawer, Slides and Fit

Fit its slides, screws and brace, then fit the drawer at the bottom\. Your MALM chest of drawers is ready\.

Fix the chest to the wall with the supplied safety fitting before you use it\.
