## Guide

### 1. Parts and Tools

Two side panels, a top, a bottom, a fixed shelf, a plinth rail, four shelves and a folded back panel, with the fittings laid out on a rug\. You need a flat screwdriver, a cross\-head screwdriver and a hammer\. Tap a part to see its name\.

Assemble it with a second person, on a rug or the empty carton so the panels do not chip\.

### 2. 1 · First Wood Dowel

Push a wood dowel into one of the two holes in an end of the plinth rail, until half of it is in\.

### 3. 1 · Other Fifteen

Push in the other fifteen the same way: two in each end of the rail, the bottom, the fixed shelf and the top\.

### 4. 2 · First Cam Bolt

Lay both side panels flat, inner face up\. Screw a cam bolt into a hole in the inner face, clockwise with the cross\-head screwdriver, until its collar meets the panel\.

### 5. 2 · Other Eleven

Screw in the other eleven the same way: three pairs on each side panel, at the bottom, the middle and the top\.

### 6. 3 · Rail, Bottom and Fixed Shelf

Stand the rail, the bottom and the fixed shelf on their ends on side panel \#1 and push them down onto its dowels and cam bolts\. The rail goes at the front of the bottom end\.

### 7. 4 · First Cam Lock

Push a cam lock into a round hole in the bottom, next to the side panel\. Turn it clockwise with the flat screwdriver until it grips the cam bolt\.

### 8. 4 · Other Three

Fit and turn the other three the same way: one more in the bottom and two in the fixed shelf\.

### 9. 5 · The Top

Push the top onto the far end of the side panel\. Its round cam holes face out, away from the fixed shelf; the crossed\-out copy shows it the wrong way round\.

### 10. 5 · Two Cam Locks

Fit two cam locks in the top and turn them clockwise with the flat screwdriver\.

### 11. 6 · Side Panel \#2

Turn side panel \#2 over, inner face down, and lower it onto the dowels and cam bolts of the rail and the three boards\.

Two people: one at each end of the panel\.

### 12. 7 · Six Cam Locks

Fit six cam locks along side panel \#2, two in each board, and turn each clockwise with the flat screwdriver until it locks\.

### 13. 8 · Onto Its Front

Together, turn the bookcase forward onto its front so the open back faces up\.

### 14. 8 · Unfold the Back Panel

Lift the folded back panel, turn it over and open it out along its fold, brown side up\.

### 15. 8 · Slide In the Back Panel

Slide the back panel in from the bottom end along the grooves in both side panels, until it reaches the top\.

### 16. 9 · First Snap Sleeve

Push a snap sleeve through a hole in the back panel into the board behind it, until its flange sits on the panel\.

### 17. 9 · First Snap Pin

Push a snap pin into the sleeve until its head is flush\. It spreads the sleeve and holds the back panel fast\.

### 18. 9 · Other Seventeen Sleeves

Push a sleeve into each of the other seventeen holes: six across the bottom, six across the fixed shelf and six across the top\.

### 19. 9 · Other Seventeen Pins

Push a pin into each of the other seventeen sleeves\.

No nails: the eighteen snaps hold the back panel\.

### 20. 10 · First Foot

Set the two pins of a plastic foot into the holes in the bottom end of a side panel and tap it home with the hammer\.

### 21. 10 · Other Four

Tap in the other four the same way: one more on each side panel and one in the middle of the rail\.

### 22. 11 · Stand It Up

Together, tip the bookcase up onto its feet, turn it round and stand it with its back against the wall\.

A bookcase can tip over\. Always fix it to the wall\.

### 23. 11 · Two Anchor Brackets

Set the two angle brackets on the top, against the wall, with their short legs up\.

### 24. 11 · First Bracket Screw

Put a washer on a short screw and drive it through the long slot of a bracket into the top, clockwise with the cross\-head screwdriver\.

### 25. 11 · Second Bracket Screw

Fix the other bracket to the top the same way\.

### 26. 11 · Into the Wall

Fix each bracket to the wall with a screw and a washer through its short leg\.

Screws and plugs for the wall are not included\. Use ones that suit your wall; ask a hardware shop if you are unsure\.

### 27. 12 · First Shelf Support

Push a shelf support into a hole on the inside of a side panel, post up, at the height you want a shelf\.

### 28. 12 · Other Fifteen

Push in the other fifteen: four at the same height for each shelf, two in each side panel\.

### 29. 13 · First Shelf

Slide a shelf in from the front just above its four supports, then lower it so the holes underneath drop onto their posts\.

### 30. 13 · Other Three

Fit the other three shelves the same way, two below the fixed shelf and two above it\.

### 31. Done

The BILLY bookcase is assembled and fixed to the wall\. Each shelf holds up to 30 kg; move the supports to change the shelf heights\.

Never let children climb or hang on the shelves\.
